Denice Torres, president of McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a Johnson & Johnson company, has been named the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association’s 2015 Woman of the Year (WOTY). She will be honored at the 26th Woman of the Year event at the New York Hilton Midtown on Thursday, May 14. This annual event draws upward of 2,000 leaders from across the industry.
Also lauded will be the HBA Honorable Mentor, Stuart Sowder, Pharm.D., VP of external medical communications at Pfizer. Carol Wells, senior director of commercial training and development at Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, will receive the 2015 STAR (Strategic Transformation Achievement Recognition). This event also honors upward of 100 Rising Stars and Luminaries.
The HBA WOTY award honors one senior woman whose accomplishments have resulted in significant contributions to the healthcare industry. As president of McNeil, Ms. Torres has been a true change agent, leading the company through an unprecedented time in Johnson & Johnson’s history.
Under her exceptional leadership, McNeil has seen sales grow at a double-digit rate, reclaiming leadership in several over-the-counter categories, as well as the No. 1 healthcare professional recommendation for many of those products. She joined Johnson & Johnson in 2004 and served in key leadership roles across all three sectors of Johnson & Johnson — pharmaceuticals, medical device, and consumer.
